Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
The course is specifically designed to train you to be employment ready as an English Language Teacher.
Your career path in teaching English is likely to be as unique and fabulous as you are. The types of English teaching positions open to you will depend on several factors, including:
- Institution type: whether you’re aiming for the hallowed halls of universities or the buzzing world of online platforms, the level of an education institution can impact the minimum qualification required (e.g. universities, English language centers, primary or high schools, online platforms, one-on-one tutoring, etc)
- Location: Specific countries or regions have varying requirements, rules or preferences for English teachers, including visas. Sometimes, employers assist with visa applications if needed.
- English level: from chit-chat conversational English to the lofty heights of academic English, the level of English being taught will define your role requirements.
- Existing qualifications and experience: your existing qualifications and experience can play a big role in securing your desired job. Got a degree in underwater basket weaving? That surprisingly might just give you an edge! Generally speaking, any qualifications (e.g. a degree in any field) or experience will boost your chances of landing your dream job. It’s like having extra sprinkles on your career sundae.
These elements come together to craft your unique employment opportunities after completing a TESOL Course. It’s like a choose-your-own-adventure book, but with more lesson plans.
Since the world of English teaching is widely diverse, we encourage you to research the requirements for the countries and jobs that interest you. Conducting a job search is the best way to discover your options. So go on, your dream job awaits!
Yes! We even have online practical placements options available via video conferencing, with English learners based in India (adult learners) or Thailand (primary, high school or university level options). Alternatively, you can also choose to complete your placement in person. We may be able to connect you with a host organisation from our network or you may choose to contact a local organisation (minimum requirements apply for placement).
Yes, if you find a suitable placement with an overseas institution (or are going to one of our class locations) then you can do your placement overseas.
